Summary
Operation Raahat (Hindi: राहत, romanized: Rāhata, lit. 'Relief') was an operation of the Indian Armed Forces to evacuate Indian citizens and foreign nationals from Yemen during the 2015 military intervention by Saudi Arabia and its allies in that country during the Yemeni Crisis. The evacuation by sea began on 1 April 2015 from the port of Aden.
Objective
Evacuate Indian nationals from Yemen as the Saudi-led air campaign closed the country's airspace.
Outcome
More than 4,600 people were evacuated by sea and air, including around 960 foreign nationals from 41 other countries. It is the largest evacuation India has run from an active conflict.
