Overview

About the UPG

A twin-engine air-superiority fighter with excellent thrust-to-weight ratio. Upgraded to UPG standard with Zhuk-ME radar, air-to-air refueling, and R-77 BVR capability.

History

Service history

Inducted from 1987, initially to counter Pakistan's F-16s. The mid-life UPG upgrade transformed the type into a true multirole platform. Naval MiG-29K operates from INS Vikramaditya and INS Vikrant.
